"I'm deeply sorry." -Tony Hayward
I wanted to make a poster highlighting a large event in American history. I chose to base mine off of the BP oil spill. I wanted to highlight when Tony Hayward said "I'm deeply sorry" in the BP commercial after the spill, so it is written across the top of the poster. Small emblems of oil floating in water help show that this is about the BP oil spill. Below is the silhouette of the United State of America with an oil rig towering above. Overall, I am pleased with how this poster turned out.

"When you have pastors thinking of themselves as CEOs, it's hard to tell the difference between a pastor and P-Diddy," - Jonathan Walton, Assistant Professor of religious studies at the University of California Riverside
Religion is a growing factor in American culture. With that being said, anything with a following shows opportunity for profit. Mega-churches have been blooming across the nation, exploiting religion to bring in money. The idea of this has always appalled me since this disregards all values that religion should stand for. I felt the need to portray this in one of my tags, so I did this as my stencil. To the left, you can see a the final edit I made before I printed it out and stenciled it on the board. I took the iconic picture of Jesus carrying the cross, and replaced the cross with a dollar sign. While this does show Jesus, I hope that viewers can apply the concepts behind it to a variety of religions as well.

"Everyone is entitled to a chance." -Defense Secretary Leon Panetta
Leon Panetta, of the Defense Secretary, announced the lift of a 19 year ban on servicewomen being able to serve in combat. This was a huge step for women's rights, and I felt the need to portray this in art form. For our third post, we were allowed to do any type of tag, so I decided to do another poster, since I liked how the first one turned out. I decided to draw a girl in uniform, with planes behind her, and the quote next to her. This is supposed to show how women are becoming more accepted as equals to men, in all fields. It's also supposed to hint that there still is room for gender equality improvements on the federal level.
